The 2013 gamescom hosted more than 340,000 visitors who gathered to celebrate the latest gaming technologies in Cologne, Germany from August 21 to 25.

The 2013 gamescom, the world's largest trade show for interactive games and entertainment, was held from August 21 to 25, 2013 at the Koelnmesse in Cologne in Germany. It hosted more than 635 exhibitors from 40 countries and over 340,000 visitors from 88 countries, including more than 29,600 trade visitors. The visitors had the opportunity to see 400 world premieres, including two brand new consoles: Microsoft's Xbox One and Sony's PlayStation 4. They were also able to try out the rivalling tech giants' consoles for themselves.

The 2013 gamescom was held under the motto "The next generation of gaming" and it revealed both entertainment and business in a new light. The show recorded a 23 percent increase in attendance, with event tickets completely sold out and the 140,000 square metres of exhibition space completely booked for the first time in history. The event was covered live by 6,000 journalists from 61 countries, marking a 15 percent increase over the previous year.



"This was games entertainment and business in a new dimension," said Gerald Böse, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Koelnmesse GmbH. "The gamescom 2013 in Cologne has clearly underlined its position as the largest games trade fair.
