Extreme Reality was one of the companies that presented their innovative technologies at the 2014 Games for Health Conference in Boston.

Extreme Reality was one of the featured presenters at this year’s Games for Health Conference, held in Boston, Massachusetts from June 18 to 20. The company showcased its technology in a booth and Asaf Barzilay, VP Products, held a presentation on health motion applications for any device, accessible to anyone regardless of specific hardware or location.

The presentation focused on the possible applications of Extreme Motion, the company’s flagship motion capture solution, in rehabilitation and therapy. Extreme Motion can turn any standard camera into a motion sensor, providing users with a gaming experience similar to the one they get with Kinect. The ground-breaking cross-platform solution can analyse the human body joints and deliver 3D data using only a regular front facing camera and an iOS device, without the need for any additional hardware or equipment. This makes it a practical choice that allows patients to perform exercises at home using devices they already own instead of having to make an appointment at a clinic and waste time in waiting rooms. The software can easily track their activity at home, provide them with feedback, and send activity reports to their physician.

Extreme Reality also introduced a new fitness concept for an iPad app, which allows users to stream YouTube videos and use a simple tool to add 3D tracking to them to be able to perform exercises and get real-time performance feedback. The concept has a similar functionality as Kinect Fitness, but is designed for the iPad and works with any video.

The Israel-based developer also held a demonstration of the 3D skeleton extraction using only a regular webcam and almost any commonly used consumer electronic device. For the demonstrations, the company used several existing games powered by Extreme Motion SDK on iPads, Windows PC, and Android devices.

The company demoed a varied range of games at the conference, including Go Dance by Sega, Volleyball Motion by VTree Entertainment, ShadowBoxer+ by Indie Hero, Space Evaders Extreme by Mobro Software, and the as-yet-unreleased Skyhero by Kokonut Studios.
