Kinapsys Offers Comprehensive Range of Options for Functional Rehabilitation
Kinapsys, an advanced rehabilitation tool developed by the French company RM Ingénierie, offers a comprehensive range of patient care options for functional rehabilitation.
Kinapsys, a versatile rehabilitation tool developed by physical therapists, combines health gaming, virtual reality and physical therapy techniques to address a wide range of needs in functional rehabilitation. The system uses Kinect sensors and playful exercises to deliver comprehensive patient care throughout the rehabilitation process. The exercises were developed to help therapists and patients reach specific goals and they can be performed by individual patients or a group simultaneously.
As patients perform the prescribed exercises, Kinect sensors detect and track their body movements, sending the data to the Kinapsys platform, which can then recommend a range of therapeutic exercises to address the patients' individual rehabilitation needs. The interactive games and augmented reality help engage patients in their rehabilitation process and motivate them to keep repeating the exercises. As patients exercise, they can see their avatar on the screen, superimposed over the therapy goals that they have to reach within a certain time. The biofeedback that the platform offers encourages patients to self-correct, which accelerates the recovery process and allows patients to be more independent and more proactively involved in their rehabilitation.
The therapeutic exercises target different body parts – upper limbs, lower limbs, or spine – and the platform offers specific protocols for different phases of therapy. It can be used for rehabilitation, to treat specific issues and recover functionality, and for reinforcement, to improve patients' cardio-muscular skills and fitness. The system can also be used to address specific pathologies, to help therapists develop new skills, and for coaching.
Kinapsys is very easy to set up and offers an endless variety of customization options. It can be easily integrated into existing therapy programs as it allows therapists to choose from 425 different exercises and adjust different parameters such as range of motion.
